Andrew Downs
Owner & Managing Attorney
Andrew earned his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law and his B.A. from Portland State University. Before law school, Andrew lived and taught English in Daejeon, South Korea and worked in the tech industry. During law school Andrew clerked for a city attorney’s office of a major Portland metro area city and then served as a Policy Advisor in the Oregon State Legislature—becoming an expert in state and local government. After law school, Andrew spent several years working as staff in the Oregon State Legislature and in Oregon politics.
In 2017, Andrew founded Andrew Downs Law, LLC to help advocate for and provide effective legal resources to Oregonians. Since, he has helped numerous tenants stay secure in their homes and ensured that landlords’ investments are protected as well as served as general counsel to small businesses, start-ups, private equity “opportunity funds,” nonprofits, and state political action committees (PACs).
At home, Andrew and his wife, Danielle, are heavily invested in Oregon’s foster care system and have opened their home to several Oregon foster children. Being foster parents has been the single most important and rewarding experience of their lives.
When not practicing law or spending time with family, Andrew will likely be found hunkered down in a duck blind, chasing birds or other critters across Oregon’s public lands, or baiting a hook somewhere along the Columbia River. Andrew lives in Columbia County, Oregon with his wife, Danielle, and their three children, three bird dogs, and small herd of sheep.
